US Olympian and Freeride Ski Legend, Jeremy Nobis, finally finds his perfect ski by teaming up with Whitedot Freeride
The team at Whitedot Skis USA, having crossed paths numerous times with Jeremy Nobis on the freeride scene, put a call into him in late 2010, “you have to try this incredible ski called the Ragnarok”. On riding the Ragnarok for the first time quotes started reaching us from the US like, “this is the ski I’ve been begging to produce for the last 10 years”. It soon became apparent that Jeremy was serious about riding the Ragnarok long term; and with a contract between Jeremy and Whitedot Freeride now in place it ushers in the start of an exciting new era of ski design – Jeremy will be working closely with Whitedot Freeride on future ski development.
The Jeremy Nobis Interview
Tell us why you have decided to ski on Whitedot skis this season?
Some friends told me I should try this super stiff ski called the Ragnarok. I was blown away by it. It’s the ski I’ve been after for big lines for the last 10 years. I thought, a company that’s producing a ski like this has got to be serious about what they’re doing.
How did you get into Freeride skiing?
I was an alpine racer. Competed in the WC and Olympics. After I retired from racing I got into mountain biking in a big way and my sponsors said I should give freeskiing a go, but I guess I’ve always been into Freeride. Even while I was racing, the back country was my chill out. 14 years later I’m still living the dream.
Who or what are your biggest skiing influences?
I tell my own story and ride for myself.
What elements of the Whitedot skis makes them a great ski for you?
The quality of construction and the full range in that every ski brings something different to the party. There is a ski in the range for any freerider. They are all light, even the Ragnarok for what it is.
How would you describe your style?
Technical, aggressive and I ride with as much speed as the terrain will allow.
What was your most interesting job?
Building log homes. Still love it. There’s nothing like building a home with a chainsaw.
